In a Ruined State
the story of Oradour-sur-Glane 10th June 1944

The title of this narrative, In a Ruined State, plays upon the state of the German and French states, both physical and moral, before, during and after the war, as well as the post war decision of the French government to preserve the ruins of Oradour, "in a ruined state" (this quotation comes from the French Minister of National Education, René Capitant in November 1944).
