The tributes laid in front of the main memorial at the cemetery
As can be seen the tributes to the dead of Oradour-sur-Glane on the 65th anniversary were both numerous and very colourful. They came from all the surrounding towns and villages as well as other representative bodies and were laid by the various mayors. The senior person laying a wreath was Francois Fillon, the Prime Minister of France, there were no foreign representatives on this occasion. The banners are those of all the W.W.II. veterans groups and when this picture was being taken the dignitaries were going round to greet them all: see main memorial without tributes. © Michael Williams: July 2009 |
