View of the cemetery (looking east)

Oradour cemetery looking east

A view of the cemetery at Oradour looking east, all the 643 victims are interred here, either in individual graves or in common ossuries where it has not been possible to identify to whom the bones belonged. The cemetery is also used to bury the dead of the new village. The ruins are to the right of view and the main memorial pillar is to the left. The grave of Madam Rouffanche lies behind the white pillar to the right of centre. This photograph was taken on 4th November 2004 (1st November is All Saints Day), hence all the fresh flowers.
