Entrance to Centre de la Mémoire

View of entrance to the Centre de la Mémoire in Oradour. Opened in April 1999, the Centre has been constructed so as to be as visually unobtrusive as possible. The ruins of Oradour can be seen in the gap in the trees to the left of centre. Note the use of rusty iron, so as to give an impression of age and decay. The large free visitor car park is to the rear of the photographer. The commemorative plaque for the laying of the first stone in 1997 is located in the grass on the left of the roof.
