The memorial to the dead of W.W.I. looking towards the altarThe window immediately above the altar is the one through which Mme Rouffanche escaped. Note the two bullet holes in the memorial. The poor contrast, which makes reading the names on the war memorial difficult, is mainly due to the nature of the stone and the engraving used, which in most lights gives hardly any contrast. The memorial is located in the St. Joseph's chapel and is more or less opposite the entrance door to the church, which is out of sight to the left of view. © Michael Williams: revised February 2012 |
