Resistance memorial in Oradour-sur-VayresMemorial on his old house in Oradour-sur-Vayres Department 87, Haute-Vienne, to Léon Roche. The memorial reads, "To the memory of Léon Roche 1895-1944. Ex-Deputy, Ex-Consul General, Ex-Mayor of Oradour-sur-Vayres, Martyr for the Resistance, victim of German oppression." What this memorial shows is that the Resistance was active in Oradour-sur-Vayres in 1944, as was claimed by Sergeant Canou of the FTP at the 1953 Bordeaux trial of those members of the Der Führer regiment accused of the massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane.
