Looking north from the Avril Hotel up the Rue Desourteaux
This view shows the separation between buildings and again makes the point that it would have been impossible for the village to catch fire from a single source if ignition as claimed by some people. The Avril Hotel where the three Pinède children hid is the building on the right, the last large building on the right in the distance is the Post Office. The road on the left is the original route to St. Junien and today is the access to the Centre de la Mémoire. © Michael Williams: revised February 2004
