The Poutaraud Garage on the Rue Emile Desourteaux
This frontal view of the Poutaraud Garage is about the most colourful of all the views in Oradour today, as a number of the original painted signs have survived unscathed after over 65 years exposure to the elements (photograph taken in 2009). It was Pierre-Henri Poutaraud, the 32 years old proprietor of this business who escaped from the Laudy barn and was then shot dead on the cemetery road during the afternoon of the 10th June 1944. © Michael Williams: December 2009
