The car of Doctor Desourteaux

This image is the best known of all those commemorating the events of the 10th June 1944, symbolising as it does a frozen moment in time. The village doctor had been out on his rounds and arrived back just as the round-up of the villagers was taking place, he parked his car on the Champ de Foire and joined the others to await his fate.
