The Masset Farm
This view shows the road to Peyrilhac, just past the Lorraine refugees school, it was taken from the wooden fence that bars the road. The white buildings are part of the Masset Farm area (Masset in the Provencal language means "Little Farm") and it was somewhere here that the SS had their command post on 10th June 1944. Just past the white buildings, there is a road junction and a signpost, indicating to the Masset farm. At this time I cannot say for certain which of the buildings was used as the command post. In the middle distance, a metal gate can be seen which marks the limit of the ruins, but today it is not used as a means of access to the ruins of Oradour. © Michael Williams: July 2009 ... revised November 2015
